Who you are: 

The Director oversees all aspects of CIEE’s placement services. The placement services include Road Show, Recruit, Virtual Road Show, and CIEE Connect. The Director will ensure that each hiring service is executed to maximize the number of placements and program participants and ensure customer satisfaction. 

The Director works with multiple teams to determine strategy and program direction, establish processes, assess performance, set DS-2019 form allocations for international representatives, improve technology, and determine the needs of hiring events. The Operations Director will enhance internal and external communications about placements and program participants, contribute to periodic sales reports and strategic planning, and monitor the annual usage of DS-2019 forms.

 

What you’ll do

1. Planning

  • Work with the Senior Director of Seasonal Exchanges, Director of Host Relations, and the Director of International Sales to create strategic participant goals.
  • Work with the Events & Travel Team to plan in-person hiring events and other CIEE teams to staff these events and to serve as Recruiters.
  • Oversee weekly meetings and coordinate adjustments to recruitment and allocation strategies.
  • Contribute to the annual budget process and forecasting͘.

2. Process Development

  • Oversee annual work and travel product creation process, including IT components, program applications, and supporting documents.
  • Develop and manage processes to support hiring services, including liaising with Host Relations, International Sales, International Operations, and others as necessary.
  • Review hiring service processes annually to identify and implement improvements.
  • Create and update seasonal planning documents (determine internal, marketing, and sales deadlines)͘.
  • Deliver seasonal training for international representatives, host employers, and CIEE staff on hiring event processes and English language assessment

3. Staff Management.

  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with staff members.
  • Work with staff on development and ensure yearly individual team members’ goals are met.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and check in regularly on staff performance against goals.

4. Reporting and Analysis.

  • Analyze data to determine international representative and hiring service allocations͘.
  • Work with the team to regularly review job inventory and make strategic decisions on allocations and events.
  • Advise Host Relations managers on job inventory versus country goals, event timing and deadlines, and necessary shifts to meet host needs.
  • Update department on results of hiring events goals versus actuals. Track hiring service popularity to ensure appropriate resources.
  • Contribute placement projections to sales reports and monitor and report on DS form usage projections Support Departmental Initiatives.
  • Advise on development of IT systems for applications, placements, and program administration and participate in user testing and training.
  • Integrate cultural exchange program into hiring events and program materials.
  • Support site visit preparations and international representative relationships.

5. Additional responsibilities.

  • Willingness to travel required; regular business trips include domestic trips and overseas hiring events (10-20%).
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent).
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and create a strategy based on metrics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail required.
  • Proactive and preference for working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with remote field staff.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information to draw conclusions and solve problems efficiently.
  • Energetic, personable, goal, and team oriented.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and sense of humor.
  • Technology proficiency required — experience with Microsoft Suite, Teams, and Salesforce, preferred.
  • Innovative, creative, and flexible to a changing environment.
